Humana.Mente – Journal of Philosophical Studies
Call for Papers Issue 15, December 2010
Agency: From Embodied Cognition to Free Will
Editors: Duccio Manetti, Silvano Zipoli Caiani
Today embodiment is a critical theme in several branches of the contemporary philosophical debate. The term embodiment refers to the role of an agent’s own body in making possible many experiential and cognitive abilities, suggesting the existence of a deep connection between action and perception. This issue of Humana.Mente will focus on the relationships between our sense of agency and the various models of the mind and of the self. The volume will be organized into two different sections: one concerning the discussion about the theory of action; the other concerning the theory of decision. The purpose of this project is to collect relevant studies in these fields, opening the door to an interaction between perspectives from various disciplines such as psychology, cognitive sciences, neuroscience and philosophy.
The following topics are accepted for submission:
Phenomenology of action
Cognitive theory of action
Enactive theory of perception
Ecological theory of mind
Neuroscience of action and perception
Philosophical theory of free will
Neuroscience of decision
Embodiment and theory of the self
